History

Based in Jiwaka Province Papua New Guinea (PNG), in an extremely difficult operational environment and remote, rural and conflict conditions, Voice for Change (VfC) has been addressing the significant challenges faced by women since 1996. Voice for Change began operating as a voluntary Rural Women’s Development Initiative in 1996, bringing together women of all ages to discuss issues affecting them and collectively explored ways to overcome them. In 2004 we registered as a formal organisation and began to receive donor funding to support our work. In 2010 we changed our name to reflect the empowerment and mobilisation inherent in our goals. Voice for Change then opened an office in the Minj District, Jiwaka Province, and developed key strategic goals to address the significant challenges that women face in the Province.
